I'm a bit horrified. However, the great thing is that it's not all of Dutch society. It's three weirdos that everyone else hates, or so it seems. And most likely, their agendas will never see the light of day based on the rigamarole and red tape they would need to go through in order to legalize what they want and the outcry of the public. I think it will end up being a little like the Klan are here--they have their little rallies and parades, but more people show up to protest them than to support them. And no matter how abhorent their beliefs are, they legally have a right to exist. Plus, another upside to the whole Dutch thing is that now everyone in the Netherlands has their eye on these three guys.

Ok, minor amendment, thanks to Meggies. I did notice that the article said that it only has three known members (the three psychos) and that the Dutch are upset on the whole. However, just looking at the traditions of past empires, they seem to all follow a trend: Moral deprivation until the entire society is so egocentric that it implodes on itself. Sorry Meggies, being pessimistic again... I'll try some optimism on for size. If not for the fact that these guys want to legally have sex with minors, the whole thing would actually be kinda funny. Quotes like "It promotes the legalisation of hard and soft drugs and free train travel for all," really shed light on the subject. Drugs and free train travel? I guess we should have gathered the hippie vibe from the name Brotherly Love, Freedom and Diversity Party. Perhaps they should be the Knights of the Totally Awesome and Happy-Making Friendly Time... of Prepubescent Sex on Trains, or something.

Somehow I doubt these guys really expect to win or pass any legislation of all. Or that's my hope, anyway. Again, take away the ped stuff and it could actually be a pretty funny joke.

I'm with Meg here . . . even though I completely disagree with the platform (of course!), they have a right to exist as a political party as long as they do not act on their beliefs or their platform (that sex with minors is OK). Yikes - I can't believe that these people are serious!!! What does the Bible say about the end times . . . ?

The thing is, it is completely legal for them to want to have sex with children as long as they don't, you know, have sex with children. They cannot turn down a political party (even if it only has three sickos for members) because they have an illegal agenda (look at the party in America that is pro-Marijuana), so long as they don't actually break laws. It can be assumed that they are breaking/want to break laws, but they cannot be charged with anything until they are actually caught breaking said laws.

It also brings them into the open so the police know who to look out for. Which is a good thing.
